Your Name: Fiona Requested Character: Blair Katherine Dempsey
Appearance:
In a big crowd, Blair wouldn’t stand out, with her 5.5” she is of average size for a girl. She has a tall and slim body, but she’s lacking any really noticeable feminine curves. Blair doesn’t do much fitness, as she isn’t a big fan of physical activities. However Mother Nature had been nice to her and she doesn’t have to do much to keep her figure. She only does some fitness at school and thus she doesn’t have any above average sized muscles.
The first two things people notice when they see her is her big friendly smile, which shows her perfect white teeth and her dark brown eyes, which can “sparkle” when something excites her. Most of the time she wears lenses to correct her near-sightedness, but she can occasionally be seen wearing glasses. Some freckles interrupt her otherwise perfect facial taint, a proof of her irish ancestry. Her face is framed by shoulder length brown hair. Blair and her hair have quite a story as it has the bad habit of never staying the way Blair wants it to stay. She has given up on it years ago and now often wears it either open or in a simple pony.
Personality:
Blair is an intelligent girl, one that always seeks more knowledge, and then even more. On the one hand for the knowledge itself, on the other hand to satisfy her endless curiosity. A curiosity that got her more than once in trouble in the recent years, but Blair just can’t leave an interesting mystery unsolved. She is an adventurous girl, someone who sometimes doesn’t think twice before heading into something. There isn’t much that she really is afraid of, she is bold, some would even say reckless. Blair is open to new and different ideas, it doesn't need much persuasion for her to embrace something new, as she is always eager to try new things out. Blair is quick in making decisions, sometimes even premature ones. Being quite a stubborn girl, she sticks to her decisions and it always takes a lot to make her reconsider them.
Blair is friendly to everyone; she is someone that everyone loves to have around. They love how she always seems to be in a good mood, making jokes, and gives witty answers in conversations. She can get along well with most people, but she never lets them come close to her. Everything other people see is a facade, one that hides the true Blair. Ever since her father died when she was six, she has confined her true feelings deep within her. Feelings she never talked about to someone and she is determined to never let them out. Blair never got completely over the loss of her father, and she does many things just that she doesn’t have to think about how much she misses him and her mother.
It’s not surprising that she doesn’t have any close friends. The only person she really feels close to now after the death of her mother last winter is her older sister Evelyn. After the death of her father, Blair felt that something important in her life was missing, like she had lost one of the columns on which her life had been built on. A feeling that had intensified after her mother’s death. Her sister is the only remaining fix point in her life now and Blair is desperately seeking for another one, for a purpose in her life.
History:
Blair was born on March 15th on the Dempsey estate somewhere in Ireland with the help of a midwife. The first few years were uneventful. Blair grew up with two very happy parents and an older sister which sometimes was annoyed about her little sister, but still loved her very much. She was too young to notice the tiny traces of dark shadows over the Dempsey estate. The first time Blair realised that something might be amiss was a few weeks after her fifth birthday, in the horrible night following her father’s death. Blair doesn’t remember much about that night, only that her mother and her sister wept, telling her that her Daddy wouldn’t come back ever. It took Blair a few weeks to realise that her Daddy would never come back. Life was never the same again after that, it was like a shadow was hanging over the Dempsey family estate. Three or more detailed paragraphs on the character's history go here. What made them the way they are? Any particular memories that stick out? Expand, expand, expand!
Sample Post:
Blair yawned; she hadn’t caught much sleep last night. There had been a myriad of things they had to do before they could leave for Chicago. It had been long after midnight when they’d finished the last task. The Dempsey estate would be waiting for them when they returned. Tired Blair had withdrawn to her room after taking a long hot shower. Normally that did help her sleep, but not this night. Between the restless phases of sleep, Blair had lied awake in her bed thinking over the mysterious notes and pieces of information she had found in her fathers study. Blair did hide it well, but she was very nervous, she even worried. Had it been a wise idea to leave Ireland and fly to Chicago? Something in her stomach said that her and her sister’s life was about to change forever. Blair wasn’t sure if she should welcome the change or worry about it. It was to late now for second thoughts, in a few minutes they’d be on the plane to Chicago, leaving Ireland and the only home she’d ever known back behind them without knowing when or if they’d return anytime soon or what would be waiting for them in Chicago.
An announcement from the speakers interrupted Blair’s thoughts and brought her back to the grey, with neon lamps illuminated airport of Dublin. “The flight to Chicago is boarding now at Gate 8!” a anonymous voice announced over the speakers. She gathered herself for a few moments before she stood up from her chair. “That’s our flight”, she said unnecessarily to her sister, who had without doubt heard the announcement as well. Blair just had to say something to break the awkward silence that had arisen after they had left the Dempsey estate early in the morning. Blair wondered what her sister was thinking while she took up her cabin luggage and started to walk over to the gate where the passengers for the plane to Chicago had already begun to form lines. They had already reserved their seats; they’d been lucky and even got one next to a window, so that they didn’t have to hurry. Regardless Blair was eager to board the plane and get into the air. Despite her second thoughts and her worries about what they’d find, Blair was eager to get to Chicago to learn more about that man that had been her dad. She felt the excitement building up in her,
Blair glanced over to her sister, as always it was hard to read her, but Blair knew her well enough to tell that she too, was nervous. Blair reached out with her hand to touch her while she looked into her eyes: “You’ll see, all will be good!” she said, trying to assure not only her sister, but herself as well.
